Mechanism of Action (MOA)
OMNIVIT has combined actions of all contained vitamins.

Thiamine (Vitamin B1) is essential coenzyme for carbohydrate metabolism and branched chain amino acids in the form of thiamine pyrophosphate also known as cocarboxylase.

Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) is involved in oxidation-reduction reactions in metabolic pathways and in energy production via the respiratory chain as essential coenzymes i.e. flavin mononucleotide (FMN) and flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD).

Niacin (Vitamin B3) is the precursor to nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP). These coenzymes are involved in electron transfer reactions in the respiratory chain.

Pyridoxine (Vitamin B6) is mainly involved in amino acid metabolism as a co-enzyme, but is also involved in carbohydrate and fat metabolism. Vitamin B6 is also required for the formation of haemoglobin.

Folic acid (Vitamin B9), once gets reduced to tetrahydrofolate, acts as a coenzyme for various metabolic processes including the synthesis of purine and pyrimidine nucleotides and hence in the synthesis of DNA, maintenance of normal erythropoiesis. Vitamin B9 is also involved in some amino-acid conversions, in the formation and utilization of formate and tRNA methylation. Using vitamin B12 as a cofactor, Vitamin B9 can normalize high homocysteine levels by remethylation of homocysteine to methionine via methionine synthase.

Cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12) is used in the body in the two forms i.e. methylcobalamin and 5-deoxyadenosyl cobalamin. Methylcobalamin acts as a cofactor during conversion of the amino acid homocysteine into methionine. Methionine in turn is required for DNA methylation. 5-Deoxyadenosyl cobalamin is a cofactor needed by the enzyme that converts L-methylmalonyl-CoA to succinyl-CoA. This conversion is an important step in the extraction of energy from proteins and fats. Furthermore, succinyl CoA is necessary for the production of hemoglobin.

Retinol (Vitamin A) helps in different physiological activities in the forms of retinal and retinoic acid. Vitamin A helps in night vision. In addition, Vitamin A helps in growth and differentiation of epithelial cells throughout the body. As a consequence, mucous secretions with their antimicrobial components diminish. So, cells lining protective tissue surfaces fail to regenerate and differentiate hence flatten and accumulate keratin. This leads to diminish resistance to invasion by potentially pathogenic organisms. The immune system is also compromised by direct interference with production of some types of protective secretions and cells.

Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) is an electron donor essential for the synthesis of collagen and intercellular material. Vitamin C reduces gastric cancer risk, protects low-density lipoproteins against oxidation, stabilizes folate in food and in plasma, thus preventing anemia to occur, promotes absorption of iron by chelation or simply by maintaining the iron in the reduced form, promotes wound healing.

Tocopherol (Vitamin E) is the major antioxidant. Vitamin E readily donates the hydrogen from the hydroxyl (-OH) group on the ring structure to free radicals, which then become unreactive. Thus, Vitamin E protects cells against damage by scavenging free radicals and molecular oxygen. Thus, it prevents lipid peroxidation of polyunsaturated fatty acids in cellular membranes.
